It
was back in 1902 that Morris Sukoff and his young
wife Ettie began their careers in the art of box
making. With Mrs. Sukoff's previous experience
handcrafting paper boxes in a factory, the young
couple opened up the business as a means of earning
a living. The first real sale was made by Mrs.
Sukoff - an order for personalized cigarette boxes
from a tobacco company. As the demand increased,
their operation expanded from the kitchen to the
basement and they adopted the name Imperial Paper
Box Corporation. With an investment of $2000 the
Sukoffs went on to expand their fledgling enterprise
into one of the leading producers of setup boxes
today.
Specialists
in every respect, we have produced a variety of
setup, vacuum-formed, acetate and PVC boxes of
highly distinctive design. These have included
multi-tiered jewel boxes complete with velvet
lined drawers, hinged covers and locks, as well
as packaging for perfume, cosmetics, pipes, cigarettes,
liquors, pharmaceuticals, books and video games.
In
the mid 1940's we became heavily involved in the
record industry, manufacturing jackets and box
albums for most of the major companies, including
Columbia (now SONY), RCA, and Decca (now Universal/MCA).
Many
of Imperial's packages, such as those for MILES
DAVIS, PINK FLOYD, and AEROSMITH, have been Grammy
Award nominees and winners. We have also
received citations from the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
and others for creative packaging that contributed
to fundraising both on radio and television.
We
have come a long way since our conception in the
gaslight era. With our company still based in
Brooklyn, NY we now ship a variety of products
worldwide. We have provided all of our customers
with a century of excellence.
